Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience.

2. How We Use Cookies

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.

localeStores your language preference1 year

Functional Cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization.

Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Service. They are switched off until you accept them. On your first visit we ask for your choice, and until you accept, none of the tools below load or set any cookie — Google Tag Manager runs in a consent-denied mode and every other analytics tag is held back entirely.

Consent is per category — you can accept analytics without accepting marketing. Marketing cookies, used for campaign measurement and personalised advertising, are a separate category and stay off unless you switch them on.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of every page, which reopens the panel with your current selections. Withdrawing consent stops these tools from loading on your next pageview.

Session recording

With analytics consent, Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and taps, replayed as an anonymised session so we can see where a layout confuses people.

What you should know about it:

  • Recording only happens after you accept analytics, and never before.
  • Text on the page is masked before it leaves your browser — we do not receive the content of what you read or type.
  • Account settings pages are excluded from recording entirely, so your email address is never captured.
  • Recordings carry no name, email address or password, and we do not use them to identify you.

If you would rather not be recorded at all, decline analytics — or withdraw it later via Cookie settings.

Cookieless analytics

Ahrefs Web Analytics measures page popularity and referrers without setting any cookie and without a cross-site identifier. We still hold it behind your analytics choice, because it processes your IP address and browser details even though it stores nothing on your device.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are placed by third-party services we use:

  • Cloudflare: Security and performance. Strictly necessary; always active.
  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.): Usage statistics. Analytics consent only.
  • Amplitude (Amplitude Inc.): Product analytics — which features get used. Analytics consent only; our data is stored in the EU.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corp.): Session replay and heatmaps. Analytics consent only.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics (Ahrefs Pte. Ltd.): Cookieless traffic statistics. Analytics consent only.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Cookies

Disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from functioning correctly.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.

6. Contact Us
